Gubernatorial Candidate Vincent Sheheen raised over a quarter million dollars in the first financial quarter of the year, his campaign announced today.

"We are pleased to report that the campaign raised over a quarter million dollars during the last eight weeks," said Caroline McNulty, a representative from the Sheheen campaign.  "Contributors included people from all over South Carolina who are ready to put petty politics and partisan bickering behind us and work together to get South Carolina moving forward."

The report, which will be filed this afternoon, shows that Sheheen raised $278,016 since he filed paperwork to run for governor on February 7, 2009.  The full disclosure form will be available at the South Carolina Ethics Commission's website, www.ethics.sc.gov, shortly after filing.

Sheheen, a Democratic senator from Camden, SC, has served in the South Carolina General Assembly since 2001.
