Ketner Giving Us a Peek Inside the Closet?

    by: Tim Kelly

Mon Jun 01, 2009 at 19:30:03 PM EDT

An alert reader pointed us in the direction of FireDogLake, where Linda Ketner didn't just a bomb sure to roil the SC political waters like nobody's business - she went nuclear:

I asked her if she thought being upfront about being gay, even campaigning with her partner of 9 years, Beth Huntley, impacted the race. "When you lose by such a tight margin, anything could have played a role." In focus groups she found that people didn't care about her personal sexual preference but respected her honesty. "We have more gay people serving in South Carolina than probably in anyplace in the United States; they're just not out of the closet. We have an awful lot of people in the closet-- Lindsey Graham, Glenn McConnell who's our Senate president pro tem, our Lt Governor... I obviously lost the conservative, religious crazy vote, but I would have anyway because I'm pro-choice... It got more national attention than it did local attention; it was no secret to anybody around here." She actually won in Charleston County.

    More as we get it...

I remember when Lindsey ran he had a brochure about Family Values that had a picture of him with his wife and two children. At least that's who you would have assumed them to be. He didn't think it was at all dishonest not to mention the fact that the 'family' was his sister and her two children, with her husband left out of the picture.

Fitsnews (run by Will Folks) just found the story. His take is that this is no big deal because the 3 of them aren't 'real' Republicans anyway. The GOP really is working on a strategy that will allow them, after all the false republicans are run out, to hold their statewide conventions in somebody's living room

How does this help Linda Ketner? (0.00 / 0)
Most people think Linda want to run again in 2010 after coming so close last time.  So I was surprised that Linda said this in an on-the-record interview with a blogger.  Whether she is outing or just spreading rumors about these three guys (I don't know) and her comments that some people who didn't vote for her are the "conservative, religious crazy vote," it just doesn't seem like something a respectable candidate for Congress should be saying.
