Gov. Mark Sanford's life has been an open book lately, mostly because he won't shut up. But, it turns out his black book adventures could make for a quite a page turner. According to CNN, it turns out Sanford does have a book deal with Sentinel, a conservative branch of Penguin Publishing. Y'know, if you're going to run for President, you've got to publish a best seller these days. Anyway, "Within Our Means", which was alreadly listed in the Spring 2010 catalogue, was supposed to be Sanford's conservative manifesto. But: That was before Sanford's life changed forever. Sentinel associate publisher Will Weisser told CNN Wednesday that the company will "most likely" make an announcement about the book's fate later this week.Weisser would not elaborate on whether that meant Sanford would write a new book about the scandal, or if it simply meant the book deal has been scrapped altogether. "We'll announce a decision about what's going to happen about the book," he said. "So it could be anything. Maybe Sanford should collaborate with the guy outside of the Statehouse who wrote the book, literally, on cheating. Update: Sorry, Sanford, but it looks like market forces aren't in your favor. According to the New York Observer: According to a statement sent out just now by associate publisher Will Weisser, Sentinel has “agreed to release” Governor Sanford from his contract in light of the scandal that brought his promising political career in the Republican party to an end last week. The brief statement called it a “mutual decision.”
It looks like they're skipping the juicy tell-all book, too. Probably, because Mark Sanford already told it all. |
