DCCC adds Ketner to Red to Blue Program

UPDATE: The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced Tuesday that Linda Ketner has been added to its "Red to Blue" program.

The national Party's Red to Blue program highlights top Democratic campaigns across the country, and offers strong candidates even more financial, communications, and strategic support.

Ketner, who is running against Republican incumbent Henry Brown in South Carolina's First Congressional District, was selected to the competitive program as a result of her campaign's impressive fundraising and media efforts.

DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen said, "Linda Ketner is running a solid campaign and is committed to making things easier for middle class families in his district. With less than 21 days to make her case for change to voters, the Red to Blue program will give Linda the financial and structural edge to be even more competitive in November."

News of Ketner's addition to the DCCC's premier program came just hours after Politico highlighted Rep. Brown as one of several vulnerable GOP House incumbents facing unexpectedly tight races this year.

Her inclusion to the Red to Blue program will likely mean a fresh infusion of cash into her campaign coffers as she seeks to knock off the four-term GOP incumbent in the coming weeks.

It's going to be a tough race, but with the help of the national Party and continued fundraising success, there's a real chance that Linda Ketner just might beat the odds and turn this blood Red district Blue come November 4.

I've seen this race featured nationally a few times the past few days (0.00 / 0)
This race is getting a lot of attention.  The conservative community blog Redstate had an article on it's front page about how no one realizes Ketner has been endorsed by pro-gay rights groups and pro-choice groups (she supports both positions, I think).  I'm afraid they might be right about people's ignorance, and the truth might be enough to sink her without evil consultants having to make stuff up.

On the other hand, Daily Kos has had her on it's front page, pointing out that she's a real progressive whose opponent is rather incompetent when it comes to controlling fires or being a legislator.  I guess it's a good thing when your friends and your opponents say the same thing about you.

    The great unknown (0.00 / 0)
Internal polling over the summer showed Ketner and Rep. Brown were both largely unknown throughout the district. By starting her ads 2+ mos out from the election, Ketner has done a great job defining herself to voters before Brown and friends could.

Brown has to be careful about hitting Ketner. It's tough attacking female candidates w/o looking like a bully. It's also very expensive...
