    Operating with a Swing Blade

    Creek Near Phillips CommunityUpdated, June 17- On Saturday, June 27th, President Obama is inviting you to use a swing blade to suture up some of the divisions which make South Carolina sicker and weaker than it should be.

    Phillips is one of Mt. Pleasant's oldest African American settlement communities, with beginnings predating the American Civil War. 

    Like many communities in South Carolina, it's grappling with modern problems today where neighborhood struggles to endure the challenges of an increasingly atomized social structure and preditory economy.  That Saturday, those who are "the change we have been waiting for" will join members of the Phillips Community in an effort to advance two established community projects to promote better health and a stronger community.
